People -- white and non-white, straight and gay, men and women -- are too blind to see how privileged they are compared to people in countries that suffer real oppression (North Korea, minorities in Russia, Africa and the Middle East). They have the world in the palm of their hands; they have the power to change the world; they are free to do whatever they want; voice their opinions without fear of execution; get benefits from the government by simply being unemployed/disabled/mentally unstable, and so much more, yet they focus all of their energy into self-pity & "suicide" jokes, telling the world is over, etc. etc. instead of looking into the future and seeing what went wrong; what didn't work for Democrats; and where do we go from here...
...all of these because Trump won. I mean, I don't like the guy, but the people have spoken. Respect the vote and give him a chance before we plan our next move. You know? Just my two cents.
Too many celebrities ramp up the dramatics since yesterday, knowing all full well that they'd still be rich as hell the next morning and not be affected by any of this. It's sickening...
edit: before y'all come for me, I'm American.

The people have indeed spoken and majority chose Hilary. The ****ing electoral college chose trump. It's a broken ****ing system. What do you not get, if each persons vote counted equally, Hillary would have won

This. I mean, the electoral votes system is not democratic at all. Why would some states value more than others?
And besides that, a Trump presidency means ruining all the progress the United Stated have made over the last decade. It's basically a go-back. They were 3 steps ahead of the rest of the world, they could have stayed like that, but they just went 10 steps behind in one night because of an outdated voting system.
If there was a time to be dramatic it is now.
No need to compare them with countries like Russia, North Korea or from Africa and Middle West. Different world, different societies which face different problems.

Extremely over dramatic.
Saying the United States is going backwards or fearing for ones life is such a stretch.
"I'm literally scared for my life"

Just because there are countries that have it worse doesn't mean we should turn a blind eye to hate.
It's exactly the things you mentioned (sharing opinions, benefits for the disenfrenchised) that people are trying to protect. You might call it "dramatic", but I think it's fair to fight against a man who is trying to make LGBT discrimination at work legal and supports gay electroshock conversion therapy.

It's interesting how we look at ourselves as better than other countries just because our technology is more advanced than in other countries, or because we have more money/population. That is precisely America's problem. We think we have it better. Like how are we being dramatic? How are any of the other countries that you listed being dramatic when they voice out their issues? Should we just sit silent and do nothing because we should be content where we are? I really don't understand your point. When Donald Trump's dumb ass decides to starts wars, or using nuclear codes to bomb bitches, are we seriously just being dramatic? I don't know. Sounds like you didn't really think this one through.

When asked whether that statement represented support for "conversion therapy," Republican National Committee chair Reince Priebus replied:
It's not in the platform.

The ignorance in this thread
You guys don't realize how serious this actually is. "I'm scared for my life" doesn't necessarily mean "I'm gonna die", but an "I'll be going through a hell".
Millions of people will be deported with no place to go, which mean losing your home, your job, possibly your family, the stability of a normal life.
And I'm sure you'd be scared to if you knew they want to take you to conversion therapy for being gay, which means electric shocks.
Like, it's really bad.

.
They don't live in "other countries where it's worse". They live in America. Where this is a very real thing for them. Right now. You have to take into consideration the context. That doesn't mean no one cares about what's happening in other countries though. It's not mutually exclusive.
This whole thing of responding to every complaint someone has with "well ____ has it worse" never has and never will solve anything. It's just another method of avoiding the conversation.

So he still basically seeks for conversion therapy. Just because it's not shock therapy doesn't mean it's not still going 10 steps backwards.

The US is miles ahead of other countries on matters democracy, why would we want to have dictators that ruin and under-develop countries based on hate and divisive politics, the nation should be going forward not backwards. Its a melting pot of different cultures, why should we destroy that, to benefit specific people. So to answer your question, deal with your own countries issues (where it consists of a homogeneous group of people) and maybe all of you should get balls to stand up to hateful people in your own, maybe it will allow progressive change. Even the UK stood up after BREXIT & they are yet to leave.

While it's disgusting, I really don't think they will carry this out. It's not in any policies right now.
Honestly, they need to stop caring and let the good gays live their life

That's true, I do think they eventually will appoint judges to try and overturn the gay marriages to being governed by the states though. And funding for aids medication and preventatives will be at risk as well.

you are aware the vice president wants women that have miscarriages to bury their fetuses and he is open to sending gay people to conversion camps/therapy.
this is really, really bad for some people. so no, there is no dramatics.
oh and, again, gay people will not be allowed to get married.
and thats literally the only things i feel like typing out. i could go for probably another 1000 words.
