Breaking Benjamin Set for #1 Bow; Kelly, Musgraves, Bridges Set for Strong Debuts
Rockers Breaking Benjamin will score a #1 debut next week on both our sales and SPS charts, prompting label chief Ken Bunt to play some wicked air guitar. Thus far, signs point to the new set (now #1 at iTunes) surpassing the band’s 2009 release, Dear Agony, which bowed with 134k.
We'll also see impressive bows from Pop siren Tori Kelly, acclaimed Nashville singer/songwriter Kacey Musgraves and buzzing soul revivalist Leon Bridges, among others. Here are this week’s key debuts.
Breaking Benjamin (Hollywood) 135-145k sakes, 145-155k SPS
Tori Kelly (Capitol) 60-65k, 70-75k
Kacey Musgraves (Mercury Nashville) 50-55k, 55-60k
Leon Bridges (Columbia) 28-33k, 30-35k
Teen Beach 2 (Walt Disney) 21-24k, 24-27k
The Teen Beach ST may well kick up a lot more sand once the movie airs this weekend on the Disney Channel, in which case Ken will supplement his air guitar with some frugging.
I'm truly shocked that a hard rock band like Breaking Benjamin has managed to sell more than 50K, let it along over 100K. I've been hearing some of their new music lately and I liked it.
Props to newcomer Tori Kelly for selling that much. More than Hilary Duff and Adam Lambert were predicted to sell last week. I've been also hearing her music as of late and I like what I'm hearing.
