US pop sensation Ashlee Simpson will be the host of this year's MTV Australia Video Music Awards in Sydney.
Simpson, the younger sister of actor/singer Jessica, will also perform live with The Veronicas and British rock group The Darkness at the awards ceremony in April.
She follows in the footsteps of US starlet Anna Nicole Smith, who created controversy last year when she exposed her breasts and continually slurred her speech during the show.
Simpson has vowed not to repeat those antics.
"You can rest assured I'll be keeping my clothes on," she said.
She will spend a week in Sydney in early April, her time culminating with her attendance at the popular awards ceremony.
"It's been five years since I was last there (Australia) and I can't wait to come back," she said.
"I'm so excited to be hosting these awards, it's just such an honour."
In 2004 Simpson stepped out of her elder sister's shadow, with the release of her chart-toping debut album, Autobiography. Her second release, last year's I Am Me, also went to number one in the US charts.
"Things have been going great for me," she said. "Jess and I are very close, so I wouldn't say I'm stepping away from her, but it's nice that people want to listen to my music and accept it for what it is."
Madonna is expected to clean-up at the April event, nominated for five gongs, including Best Female Artist and Album Of The Year.
Locally, Bernard Fanning and The Veronicas are tipped to win awards.
HOLY **** ,This is gonna be awesome!
