GUNS 'N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose has promised fans the band’s long-awaited new album will be released this year.
The wild rocker, who is the only remaining original member of the band, has been working on Chinese Democracy for the past 10 years.
Axl – real name William Baley – told Rolling Stone magazine: "People will hear music this year. It’s a very complex record. I’m trying to do something different."
The long-haired singer - whose former bandmates, guitarist Slash, drummer Matt Sorum and bassist Duff McKagan have formed new band Velvet Revolver - claims the new material was influenced by British rock legends Queen.
He added: "Some of the arrangements are kind of like Queen. Some people are going to say: 'It doesn't sound like Axl Rose, it doesn't sound like Guns 'n' Roses.' But people are going to like at least a few songs on there."
