The BIGGEST FLOPS of 2010 (so far)
10. Janelle Monae - The ArchAndroid
Release Date: May 18, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #17 (21,000 copies sold)
This Week: #114 (4,532 copies sold)
TOTAL SALES: 59,306
Chance of Recovery: 75%
With her album slipping down the charts and Diddy's curse hovering above her, many people would be quick to call this the end of Janelle's career. Luckily for her, The ArchAndroid is the most critically acclaimed album of the YEAR with a 91/100 on Metacritic (a site that compiles all major reviews and calculates an average score). Could Janelle Monae pull an Amy Winehouse at the 2011 Grammys?
9. Big Boi - Sir Luscious Left Foot
Release Date: July 6, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #3 (59,403 copies sold)
This Week: #3 (59,403 copies sold)
TOTAL SALES: 59,403
Chance of Recovery: 20%
Seven years ago, Outkast dropped their double album "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below". Loved by fans and critics, the album was a huge success selling millions and spawning several chart-topping singles. Fast forward to 2010 and 1/2 of the group is having trouble on the charts. His lead single "Shutterbugg" has not even touched the Hot 100. The album has received positive reviews, but it seems the general public is not interested unless Andre 3000 is involved.
8. Corinne Bailey Rae - The Sea
Release Date: Jan 26, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #7 (53,000 copies sold)
This Week: Out of Top 200
TOTAL SALES: 156,000
Chance of Recovery: 10%
Yes, Corinne Bailey Rae, the girl who sings "Put Your Records On", released another album.
7. Jason Derulo - Jason Derulo
Release Date: March 2, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #11 (42,000 copies sold)
This Week: #95 (5,425 copies sold)
TOTAL SALES: 174,941
Chance of Recovery: 3%
If Jason Derulo had one album sold for every time that annoying "Ja-son DeruuuuuUUUuuulloooOOO" was played on the radio........he might have a lot more albums sold. How many hits has this guy had? Whatcha Say, In My Head and Ridin Solo were all huge hits, but unfortunately for Jason people were not interested in buying the album.
6. The-Dream - Love King
Release Date: June 29, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #4 (58,488 copies sold)
This Week: #15 (22,000 copies sold)
TOTAL SALES: 80,488
Chance of Recovery: 5%
If your favorite singer is Rihanna or Beyonce, you can thank this guy for giving them their biggest hits (Umbrealla, Single Ladies). The-Dream asked if I could put a link to buy his album here. I wasn't going to, but then I heard him and Christina Milian are divorcing and she had his baby, etc......you know how that goes. The album is basically a repeat of his previous albums and it seems as if most people have had enough. The first single "Love King" peaked at #92 on the Hot 100 and "Make Up Bag" feat. T.I. has yet to debut.
5. Nick Jonas & The Administration
Release Date: February 2, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #3 (82,000 copies sold)
This Week: Out of Top 200
TOTAL SALES: 151,000
Chance of Recovery: 0%
4. Travie McCoy - Lazarus
Release Date: July 8, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #25 (15,000 copies sold)
This Week: #161 (3,401 copies sold)
TOTAL SALES: 29,359
Chance of Recovery: 10%
Something tells me this Lazarus will not be coming back from the dead...
3. Taio Cruz - Rokstarr
Release Date: June 1, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #8 (24,000 copies sold)
This Week: #86 (5,505 copies sold)
TOTAL SALES: 48,827
Chance of Recovery: 0%
Jay Sea... Jason Der.. Wait..who is this again?
2. Christina Aguilera - Bionic
Release Date: June 8, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #3 (110,000 copies sold)
This Week: #32 (12,357 copies sold)
TOTAL SALES: 181,883
Chance of Recovery: 1%

1. Kelis - FleshTone
Release Date: July 6, 2010
Billboard 200 Debut: #46 (7,833 copies sold)
This Week: #46 (7,833 copies sold)
TOTAL SALES: 7,833
Chance of Recovery: 0%
Finally Kelis gets a #1! It was a risky move to stop singing about her Milkshake (her last hit from years ago) to record dance music. Did it pay off? Not really, but I don't think she relies on album sales as her main source of income anyway............................it's all about the tour money!
------------------------------------------
These albums were chosen based on the following: # of singles, # of hit singles, album sales, speed of chart tumble, potential, promotion, and previous album sales. The sales to date reflect sales from the 7/17/2010 Soundscan Sales Chart or the last sales chart on which the album appeared. An album's presence on this list does not imply that such album is of terrible quality. If any flop albums were omitted, it's because they were forgotten a little too quickly lol
Feel free to comment or add your own. Which upcoming releases will need to be added to the list of flops?

How is Janelle a flop? Seeing as she hasn't had a huge hit & she is a debut artist, her sales are all right to me IMO.
I think her album will recover in a remarkable way soon.

I don't either, I looked at Flo Rida's and Kevin Rudolf's album sales after their hits Right Round, Let It Rock and they are below average especially for having a hit!

I honestly thought Xtina would have sold at least 350k by now.
And where's Can't Be Tamed? It sold like 130k in the US so far and it keeps plummeting down the charts...

Right now the album is a flop. Selling less than 5k a week and down to #114. Keep hope alive!
