I want to know why people call Beyonce 4 a flop?

Beyonce 4 open at #1 in 7 countries, Also stay at #1 for 2 weeks in America
Beyonce 4 has sold 1.4 Million copies in the U.S
It has sold 3.6 Million Worldwide
4 had 3 songs that reach Platinum status in the U.S and Platinum status for other songs outside the U.S
1 Grammy
Also has received more than 15 Awards
Also it went 3X Platinum in Brazil in it's first week.

So how is it a flop when half of your fave couldn't pull a grammy? Beyonce 4 was not as successful as her last album but it was a success without a top 10.

It just simply underperformed that's all... IMO it's her best album

It was a flop. Beyonce never sold less than 5m of an album for the 10+ years of her career until that album bombed.
I think it's sad because 4 deserves to be her biggest selling and most awarded work.

Run The World (Girls) and every other follow up single flopped, and it was a decline from her previous efforts especially relative to the huge promotional effort she gave the album.

I guess the main point is that 4 certainly underperformed but it could have been an even bigger pop emergency.

Beyonce said she wanted to make real music, so that is why she didn't make 4 commercial

Just because it sold less than her other albums doesn't mean it was a flop...

4 was successful in a very different way, it solidified her as something MORE than just another pop act. Just look at the endorsements, tour and performances from the era.

Like the smart users before me have stated, it underperformed. But it isn't an era to be embarrassed about. She solidified herself as force with it's results.. She showed she could sell without needing hit singles.

As an album itself, it's not.

As an album compared to her other work, it most definitely is and everyone else will remain latched to this unfortunately.

It underperformed as far as Queen Bey's standards go. But there were a few hits from that album. First of all, she released too many singles from the album. She should've stopped a long time ago. I wouldn't call "Best Thing I Never Had" or "Love on Top" a flop, and to be honest, "Party", "I Care", and "Dance for You" did okay too. Overall it was just a mess, though, and it underperformed. Great album, though.
