The Most Successful Eras by Females: Top 150 | FINISHED

This will be a countdown for the biggest eras by female acts in the US in the last four decades ('80s to '10s). Since it's kind of hard to get credible data from other markets, this will only include stats from the US. This will be measured by chart success (albums and singles), critical acclaim and overall performance. All data will be provided by official sources such as: Billboard, Nielsen SoundScan, RIAA, AMA, NARAS, etc.
I searched a lot, and I ended up with 163 eras from 54 different female acts, from the early '80s to current eras. The latest Billboard's issue included in the tracking process is the one of April 5, 2014. To see the complete list in alphabetical order of all the participants click in the collapse button below.

Methodology:
A formula was created to measure the success of each individual aspect of an era. This formula includes points for three different fields: album's success, singles' success and accolades.
For album's success each era receives points based on how many copies each album sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan (Billboard) or RIAA; this aspect represents the majority of the points that can be obtained in the album field. Additional points are given depending on peak (if it was inside the top 10), weeks spent inside Billboard's 200 and (if that's the case) points depending on how many weeks it stayed at #1. The points given depending on the album's peak, if it was inside the top 10, are explained below:

Additional points are given depending on how many weeks each single stayed inside The Hot 100 and (if that's the case) points depending on how many weeks it stayed at #1. The points given depending on each single's peak are explained below:

For accolades, each era receives points based on how many awards the album, singles and act were nominated for and/or won. The awards included are: Grammy Awards, Billboard Music Awards and American Music Awards. Grammy Awards represent a greater portion of the final score. The points depend on the category (general or genre specific) of the awards, as explained below:
