...there was something about the now infamous segment that made me wince a little bit, though.
If you notice, Beyoncé did not do an interview so much as essentially email GMA a video clip she quite possibly shot from her iPhone – which they gleefully ran anyway. It reminded me of a recent New York Times story on this same subject where Beyoncé provided quotes, but not directly. Writer Courtney Rubin noted that via email, “Beyoncé wrote ‘At first it’s the little things I noticed: I had more energy’ — though, sadly, not enough to deal with a reporter asking about it on the phone, as had been promised for more than a month.” A rep explained that Beyoncé “has not answered any direct questions for more than a year.”
So I’ve noticed. Why? How long will this last?

I never believed the critique that Beyoncé was “robotic.” If anything, she quickly sensed that following the departure of select members of Destiny’s Child, some were invested in trying to make her southern fried Diana Ross. So she played it safer and it worked accordingly.
However, now she doesn’t deal with the press much at all. I get the feeling she calls this control, but it’s starting to go back to a time where she was often categorized as hyper controlled and perfect.
No doubt she is a savvy manipulator of media, having hired her own personal archivist to document and curate her life. As a result, the diamond of Beyonce’s image is flawless, not multifaceted. An interview would expose the nicks, chips, and fingerprints that no one wants to see, least of all Beyonce.
Well I get the whole self-titled era was all about letting the music speak for itself blah blah
But now I honestly think it's a mixture of her simply not enjoying giving them anymore since realistically she doesn't have too, as well as maybe not wanting to be asked certain questions (which I know a publicist can usually stop being asked), eg about the elevator incident or the divorce!!111!
Who knows though. She kind of proved interviews are not that necessary for a good selling album, single or tour(s)
I think it's because everything with her is so manufactured and planned out. She doesn't know what an interviewer could ask her and therefore doesn't want to risk not coming off as "perfect" or whatever you wanna call it.

This. Also, no shade, but she's not good at interviews. Or speaking in public.

That's stupid because she can easily have her publicist dismiss any question that she's doesn't want to talk about. And let's not act as if Beyonce haven't done countless interviews for 17 years.

She granted interviews thruout her career till the ST era and she still does but not to promote music. How does your nonsensical paragraph correlate with her trajectory? Anybody on a music forum shd know better than to use "manufactured" as shade. Which mainstream artist isnt? Dense!

When's the last time she sat down and had an interview? 2011 when promoting 4? I honestly don't know. And the fact that her publicist has to dismiss questions just shows that she has to keep a facade up.

I think she just might be over that whole part of it tbh but goodness she has done so many press junkets and interviews during her promo runs throughout her career, I can kind of understand her feeling like she has paid her dues and kind of just doing what she enjoys for a while. I think she likely do interviews on a limited basis in the future but I don't think we will ever see it on the scale of her DiL-IASF eras or even the smaller scale 4 era appearances.

A Publicist does that same for your fave and anyone else's, that's their job.
People like you and the media think these celebs are priority and they owe you something.
Bey does not do interviews for 1 era out of the nearly 20 years of her career, and the media already missing her

K she can request for qustions not to be asked though its been around the game since forever
This is exactly what Britney did (and Elvis/MJ/etc. before her)
It just means that Beyonce's at a point where she's comfortable in her accomplishments and wants to live out her private life. You can't really be mad at her
