Chris Evans says having a gay brother helped shape him
Quote:
"I’ve never felt any sort of backlash or friction as a result of the stance I’ve taken in my career in support of [my brother] or any other human rights… hopefully it stays that way going forward.
It’s important to understand, whether it’s growing up with women, whether it’s growing up with other ethnic groups, it’s important to experience anything different from what you know to encourage and cultivate compassion and understanding.
Growing up with women helped me, but growing up in the theatre helped me, growing up in a progressive community helped me. I think it’s really important to put faces to the situations that we’re navigating as society."
— Chris Evans to The Fix when asked what inspires his activism.
Sometimes people need some gay relative to have empathy for people different from them, it's easy to not be someone that tolerates homosexuality or whatever when you don't have any of your love ones being abused or being discriminated by that so of course it helped Chris and I'm glad he brings it up.
It's so nice to see that he's so supportive of his brother and accepting of others
Btw his statement in the OP reminded me of that episode of Chelsea when Frank whatever his name is was being racist and Chris subtly checked him
Scott has talked about this before when he was on the ABC soap opera One Life to Live. I actually interviewed him a few times. He's really cool. What Chris said about Scott being gay sort of shaping his views is really commendable. For them to have grown up in a family where you're accepted and encouraged for being who you are is something I wish more families did.
Baby if you give it to me
I'll give it to you
I know what you want
You know I got it
Baby if you give it to me
I'll give it to you
I know what you want
You know I got it
