The Korean wave (Hallyu wave) refers to the significant increase in the popularity of South Korean entertainment and culture starting in the 1990s, in Asia, and more recently in other parts of the world. As one put it, it represents a surge in the international visibility of Korean culture.The term was coined in mid 1999 by Beijing journalists surprised at the fast growing popularity of Korean entertainment and culture in China. Hallyu primarily consists of three forms of media: pop music (K-pop), television dramas (K-drama) and movies (K-movies). The wave is more than a mere cultural phenomenon; it has proven to have a considerable impact on the South Korean economy, as well as on the political and cultural influence of South Korea♪ K P O P a E X P L O S I O N ♪
2009 is a significant milestone of Kpop
2009 is the year that Girl's Generation and Super Junior released their mega hits "Gee" and "Sorry Sorry", and took the crown as the Queens and the Kings of Kpop
2009 is the year that the old idol groups like Kara and Brown Eyed Girls saw the light, redeemed themselves and became one of the biggest stars in the Kpop sky
2009 is the year that top idol groups nowadays like 2ne1, T-ara, 4minute, After School, f(x), SECRET, B2ST... came into life
Since then, the history of Kpop turned to a new page. More and more idol groups were born, there are over 100 idol groups nowadays. Their music effortlessly **** on lives, and their popularity rapidly spread through all over Asia, conquer Japan and get ready to snatch America's wigs. In other words, 2009 is when the 2nd generation of idols officially begin, remarks the start of Hallyu Wave's global conquest.
In this game, we will rate all the biggest hits from 2009 to 2011 - the songs that make the Hallyu Wave spreading throughout the world
