Could Nicole Scherzinger be too old for Radio 1? Well apparently it seems she’s “not right” for their youthful target audience.
For the second time in just over a year, the Beeb have left 36-year-old Nicole off their playlist.
And for the second time, the single is still riding high in the charts regardless.
Last March, Nicole’s Boomerang failed to receive support from both Radio 1 and Capital FM.
But the latter adjusted their playlist to accommodate it once it charted high in the midweeks. Radio 1 still left it off theirs.
This week, Your Love is battling with Rixton for the top spot in Sunday’s Official Charts – but while the boyband, who are in their mid-twenties, are getting maximum support on the station’s A List, Nicole hasn’t even scraped on to the C list. The boys are currently 12,000 copies ahead in the race for No 1.
My sources say: “Nicole’s single was discussed at the playlist meeting, but it wasn’t considered a priority track.
“It’s not personal against her - she has been a guest on Radio 1 and the track has been played – just not playlisted.
“Radio 1 plays a much wider range of artists than commercial radio – they largely concentrate on playing hits.”
Previously, the station has been criticised for deeming artists including Robbie Williams “not relevant” due to their age, which is above the station’s demographic.
They don't use Paloma Faith for the same reason, yet she still charts high and is one of the biggest stars in the UK right now.
But they do use Lily Allen, who's actually not that 'young' too (if we're judging her by their age rules) so they only embarrass themselves by doing this tbh.
They left Hurts off their playlists too during the entire Exile era, probably because they weren't 'new' anymore.
that is literally crazy. if theyhave an age limit then that is so ageist especially since she shifts copies of herm usic and its ade for a younger crowd

Yep it's ridiculous. And people who stan for charts eat this up and dump the artist as soon as they stop getting radio support.
I mean if the song is good why would u not play it? But I feel is more towards females and I dont think it matters for groups
