Gays: would you change your last name after marriage?
Me and my boyfriend were just talking about how neither of us would change our last names after getting married. Our last names are too long to even consider doing a hyphenation. I'm interested in knowing what y'all would do. Spill the tea.
The messiest is when couples legally change their last names to a combined version. So if one's last name is Franklin and the other's last name is Turner, they'll change their last names to Frankturn or some ****.
No. It's completely unnecessary, even for straight couples.
The fact that it's generally accepted that a woman should take a man's surname in marriage is so worrying as it's clearly an outdated principle based in misogyny and male supremacy.
nope i wouldn't
it's a age old sexist/hetero-normative tradition
id consider hyphenation if we both did it, but i'd never purely take his name, nor even ask him to take mine
yes, i'm the only boy in my family and i want to do it just to see the look on their face when they find out their last name is no longer getting passed down
No, I don't think anyone should change their name when they get married. It's an unnecessary hassle, and based in sexism.
