P!nk's Plymouth Pavilions date was the best of two decades
Quote:
P!NK’S 2006 visit to Plymouth Pavilions, including trapeze antics live on stage, has been voted the venue’s best gig of the last 20 years by Herald readers.
In April this year The Herald and Plymouth Pavilions asked you to decide which was the best gig to be held at the venue in the two decades since it was opened.
Pavilions visitors drew up a shortlist of 20 names, a Who’s Who of the music and comedy worlds who have visited the city since 1991.
And over the last few months you have been voting on which was the best – and almost 1,000 votes were cast.
P!nk’s visit to the city in 2006 topped the chart, followed by Green Day in 2005, Oasis in 2002, Avenged Sevenfold in 2010, Them Crooked Vultures in 2009, Alice Cooper in 2009 and Prodigy in 2010.
P!nk said: “Wow, I don’t even know what to say! That’s quite an honour. And it makes me so happy that it’s enjoyed because I have so much fun doing it. Hopefully I’ll be back very soon to put on a better one.”
Gavin Marshall, who books the shows as the Pavilions’ programming and marketing director said: “I have been fascinated to find out who readers of The Herald judged as the best ever gig, and I’m delighted it’s P!nk.
“There have been so many highlights across the years, many of which didn’t even make it into the final top 20, but the top three are the right ones for me. The challenge for me now is to book the show that will take P!nk’s crown in the future.”
Further down the list were appearances by Kings of Leon, Madness, Tinie Tempah, Faithless, Coldplay, Kylie, Lee Evans, Riverdance, JLS, Plan B, Pendulum, Ricky Gervais and Daniel Bedingfield.
