Maybe ya know, there's black people who are educated and contribute to society? It's not making fun of anybody? You're showing respect to someone that you care about?

Everyone is equal; everyone's history and the characteristics that are associated with them ("them" being "everyone") aren't the same (equal), which means different actions by different people are going to convey and elicit different conclusions.

The people in this thread are so condescending... I'm a white teenager, so, no, I don't have the experiences that some people have evidentially had regarding being offended by blackface, excuse me. I'm trying to discuss it and find out why people are getting offended, there's no reason to be so rude to me.

But since he was portraying a black man and he was not born black, it's wrong, it's his parents fault, they deserve to be shot, etc. That's ridiculous.
He wasn't being funny or disrespectful, he was trying to portray MLK, and his parents supported him. People who have a problem with that have to realize how stupid that makes them look.

That's good but don't use your race as an excuse. Plenty of white people know the history behind blackface and wouldn't attempt to portray a black person by going that route. All you need to know is that it definitely will offend people. Blacks and non-blacks.

You're right. And in the same turn, you don't really have a right to tell black people what they should find offensive.

I don't think his parents were thinking it would have been offensive at all when they allowed him to do this...if they did then shame on them
It was probably just a mistake

In this day and age, I doubt anyone has been personally victimized by someone doing blackface. Just because it used to mean something doesn't mean it always has to in every instance. That little boy wasn't doing blackface, he just painted his face black to portray a historical black figure.

No one was calling you stupid. We just explained it 223982 times and you still didn't seem to understand. I'm pretty sure people have been victimized of blackface nowadays. It's just not as common. And obviously the boy didn't mean anything behind it, it's just the history and the view behind it. He could have done his speech or whatever without the paint.
If anything MLK's dream would have been emphasized even more without it. But I doubt the kid is old enough to analyze that.

I wouldn't attempt to portray a black person, either. I know why it would be offensive if I did it, I'm nineteen years old and know better. I would never do something like that that I thought would offend someone.

Can we have a polite discussion? No need for calling names. If a person says something ignorant, don't get mad. Just educate them.
How could his parents let him leave the house like that? He shouldn't have been kicked out of school. It wasn't his fault. He is only 7.
