That's just because this is a pop music forum within a pop-obsessed world; the second any musician acts outside the norm, it immediately sparks contempt from those who wish to control an artist like their personal servant rather than allow the artist simply be an artist.
Which makes it even odder since, all things considered, BTW is a fairly standard (and very good) pop album and the only thing that sets it apart from other pop is that it's infused with influences from non-mainstream kinds of music. Is our world so myopic that even a rock/opera influence within music can make an album disliked for being too "out there"?
