It's not completely illogical, especially since both of them are music artists. Her relationship which Justin didn't directly lead to her better sales (her album flopped but her singles did better than ever) but it did create a lot of buzz and hype around her and that led to her stronger sales and more success.

That is not how success works.

WTSGD has sold over 200,000 copies less than her previous two albums. Single sales are irrelevant because you don't have to be a fan of someone to buy their single.

Radio airplay doesn't come because you're dating a successful musician. If that were the case, you'd see a lot more musicians dating one another to increase their sales.
