and who are you to define taste?? seriously though, you might not like it, doesn't mean people who like it have a bad taste.
and i could care less about the charts, because most of the high charting songs are basic anyway.

LYLALS isnt generic,
I'd say Naturally and HTL are more generic

Are we really going to argue about an artist being generic or not when we're in a ****ing Disney rate? They're all generic. Generic does not equal bad.

You're totally right! I mean, nothing here is as great as I Wanna Dance with Somebody or Heaven is a Place on Earth, for example.
But Demi's tone can be argued and debated.
Or it can't be, because it's not there! See what I did?

But I legit don't get anything from Demi. Her voice - her tone, actually - leaves a lot to be desired. The least memorable or exciting tone of all of these girls.
And when your competition includes Emily Osment, Selena Gomez and the Tiz, what does that say about you?
|
As an article about Demi says (some website that talks about the vocal abilities of a lot of singers), Demi's voice is hit or miss.
It talks about how her voice itself is very good, but it's hit or miss depening on the listener. Some really like her voice, and some just really don't get what's special about it.
Does anyone here know the link to this website having info about vocals of lots of artists, their vocal range, etc?

mh yeah, but i still think it's kinda generic.
and imo it's less generic than GYHAB, and i probably just mentioned it because I don't like it anyway.
But this is just my opinion of course. again^^

Its an opinion and we can definitley appreciate that but the trolling/flamebait can get a little grating sometimes.

I dont think she has a distinctive tone but (and I dont know how much anyone agrees with me) I think she can emote the most from these artists and she also has the biggest range from the artists here. She has a really good discography aswell, its just that most of her gems havent been released as singles
Thats my opinion ofcourse

Demi Lovato
Vocal Type: Mezzo-Soprano
Vocal Range: 3 Octaves Eb3-Eb6
Vocal Strengths: Wide Range in Chest Voice (up to A5 live) and Strong Vocal Endurance. An overall top-echelon belter.Uncanny ability to emote with her vocal delivery, and possesses a unique, slightly raspy tone when singing mid-range. Incredibly versatile in terms of what genres her voices fits with. Can go from Rock to Balladry to Broadway to Rand B in a flick of a switch. This used to be a con, but is now a strength: her melismatic control. If you listen to old recordings of her and compare them to 2011 live performances, you can't imagine how much she's improved in that department. What used to sound incredibly messy and uncontrolled is now clean, precise and musical. Turned a con to a strength through experience.
Vocal Weaknesses: She needs serious work with her head voice and falsetto, probably because she never used it very much in her past work. She really doesn't have the best control in that technique, and could stand to get vocal training. Her low register could also use some work, though it's WAY better now than it used to be. Back then this part of her register was so foggy and unsupported at times that it would sound like she was speaking rather than singing. It could still use more work, but she's getting there.
Her vocal tone, though unique, certainly isn't for everybody. I'm sure that there are some people that hate how raspy her voice can be at mid-range. I think it adds character and emotion, but it may be viewed as a negative by some.

I know she has the biggest range (by far) of all these girls, but a nothing tone plus (mostly) nothing singles (I haven't, and don't have the inclination to venture into her album tracks) does not excite me.
But I'm enjoying this convo!

Isn't Diva Devottee the place that said Adele had a 4 octave range?
