Because she is the ultimate female popstar. She took pop to a whole new level thats never been surpassed. She is fiercely ambitious and relentless in what she does. Totally dedicated to pop.
Her influence has gone way beyond music. She is a cultural phenomenum and literally one of the most globally famous women that's ever lived. Only when she dies will this become apparent, sadly.
She dared to be controversial at a time when America was blacklisting any star remotely outspoken or tarnished(Sinead O'connor, George michael, Michael jackson..). She challenged attitudes to sex, religion and politics. She championed AIDS victims long before it became fashionable.
She is just the epitome of a strong woman who has taken total charge of her life. Unlike other popstars you never ever doubt that Madonna is in the driving seat. And her longevity in the most fickle of music genres is just astounding.
I like Madonna because her discography is ****ing amazing, versatile and innovative and ahead of it's time. She's a great performer and a fearless woman, she has big balls with the personality of a man. She takes **** from no one and isn't afraid to piss people off and often creates controversy to get people thinking. She's also very articulate and a great business woman.
I use to dislike Madonna up until late last year sometime when a friend got me into her discography, it was no turning back from there. I became more educated about her career and slowly but surely was converted into a fan.
I like Madonna's 80's classic songs (LAV, LAP, Holiday, Dressin Up) but didn't really use much until I got here. If It weren't for ATRL, I don't think I would have been curious enough to delve deeper into her discography like COADF, ROL and soon Bedtime Stories She has some bomb ass albums and I can definitely see what all the fuss is about.
