I know there are some people at my job that said they weren't gonna buy her new album, some girl even said after she released that "techno" song she was done with her. I bought it though
Capitol released one hit single at a time... they didnt bombard fans with a choice. Nicki's problem is that her team tries to cater to two audiences at once. Not that that isn't commendable, she just doesnt have that kind of power yet. She needs to slow this era down. Also she needs to drop the whole Pink Friday moniker. "Reloaded" doesnt help either.
I'm so pissed that she kept the "Pink Friday" tag for this album. And like you said, it makes it even worse with Roman Reloaded indicating that it's a rerelease, when it's not. The era isn't done just yet. Her label just need to play their songs right, and cater to the urban fanbase to sell more albums. But damn this is depressing.
To be honest, Nicki wasn't trying to cater to both audiences equally. She was trying to cater to pop more.
She didn't really push anything at urban. Those urban singles were merely "buzz singles," while "Starships" was given most of the promo. This should be a lesson to her and her label.
