Unpopular opinion, but I'm glad that Better Than Revenge and Enchanted weren't singles.
BTR could've been a pop hit, but it would probably have damaged Taylor's image in the long run.
Any radio edit of Enchanted would've ruined the magic and artistry of the song.
I still wish we had videos for Enchanted and Haunted, but without the songs having to be singles.

Along the lines of my previous post, I think something some of Taylor's fans may not realize is that you can't take a really long song like Enchanted or Dear John and release a radio edit as a single.
With the next album, I'm confident we'll get more 5+ minute songs. I'm confident they'll be fan favorites. I'm confident they won't be singles no matter how much the 14 year olds want them to be.
I may be wrong, but I think Taylor is artistically in a place where she knows you have to write certain kinds of songs specifically for radio. Look at Mine and Mean. They're the ideal length for radio and they're catchy, but they're not the best songs on the album. Then look at Enchanted and Dear John. They're practically masterpieces, but they couldn't- and shouldn't- be singles.
I want more Enchanteds and Dear Johns- long masterpieces that will never see the light of day on the radio. And as Taylor grows as an artist, I have a feeling she'll begin moving away from the "tailor-made" radio hits and towards the artistic stuff that radio doesn't want.
She's seems like she's trapped halfway in between "artist who caters to radio and public" and "artist who is too good for radio." Unfortunately, I don't think she'll ever really get out of that trap.

Talking about if Taylor knows the ***** or not. Yes, she does know. Don't forget that she rejected RCA deal. And when she auditioned for label, she said that she got rejected in a semi-rude way with this following statement: "Country target audience is 35 y.o. female soccer mom. So once you have a song that will appeal to 35 y.o. female, we'll talk again." Quoted by The New Yorker. Then at '08 piece with NYT, she said that, "From time to time she has the desire to make a full Alt. Country record ala Ryan Adams." But for now, she will stick what people her age knew.
Those little pieces said a lot than any other interviews. There's gonna be one time she will get tired with radio, unlike Mayer who still tries to appeal to kids & the usual format audience, she will completely leave the ****** format we all know. But it will happen once she's REALLY big so she still can sell ****-load even tho she has little next to no exposure. Speak Now was just the beginning I think, she tried her hand at no-radio-support strategy. Not completely failed, but not successful either. It will happen, but not in the near future.

Anyone think Bieber can beat Taylor by having the biggest sales first week this year?

And poor Biebs, not my favourite but with huge sales like those he deserved the #1.

I'm expecting something different from the next record. I don't think she'll pull a 180 on us, maybe 90.
