TBH her quotes about that song (if it is about JM, which I don't have any doubt myself) gross me out, believing what I do about him from everything I've seen and heard. Also makes me wonder if she ever really let it go, since she released the song which was a bonus track, and the reason stated was that it was fan-chosen but I never saw any demand for it from the fans. She began performing it around the Salt Lake shows didn't she? and kept right on thru to the end, often with much emotion. Perhaps trying to still send a signal? Wonder when she played it for him. /ugh I shudder. If I didn't have so much time and emotion invested in supporting and loving her from the start, the ick factor of this would make me unable to continue to follow her career. One hopes it's over but my intuition wavers a bit, in face of these kinds of remarks. And basically she's saying they did carry on a clandestine relationship, but she knew it would surface. Kind onf contrasts with her other statements that she wants a guy thats not afraid to be public with her, seems like it was as much her idea to hide the thing with mayer. It's a pretty song but I can hardly bear to listen to it myself, because of the associations it has with speculation and probable inspiration.

It'll be interesting and I hope not disappointing to see what transpires over the summer in her personal life and then in her music and other artistic endeavors.

Also if she wrote it about this relationship which was existing at the time before she turned 20..that's the time she was publicly believed to be involved with Lautner, which no one cared about in a negative way. Smacks of using him as cover, then breaking things off with him around her birthday. The ick factor to me about the whole thing makes me usually avoid even thinking about it let alone writing about it, it's just when it's brought up it brings that period and the tabloid stories back.

sept 2009 was the infamous VMA with Kanye incident. That was the VMAs at which 2-3 days before Mayer was seen hanging with Katy perry and exiting her new york digs one morning. But Katy then hooked up with Russell so JM had to move onto another huge name star (Swift) and she was so nieve she fell for his line, imo. She did SNL Nov. 11? and then the Jingle Ball in New York in November I think, which Mayer performed at also. I can't explain how much he creeps me out, I knew radio station workes from before he was famous that told stories of the girls he'd pick up (and according to the stories, underage) and that wasn't all. All just a nasty story, that whole rumored relationship, from a fan's perspective that knows anything about the two of them.

Without looking it up, I remember her writing a tweet at that time about writing a song on the piano. I'm betting that it was this song, and you could pinpoint the date it was written by looking up that tweet. This song features piano, a little unusual compared to most of her songs.

I've seen Swifties on tumblr who want Taylor and John to get back together and I can't even understand how insane they must be to want that. He was arguably the worst thing that ever happened to Taylor. I once came across an entire tumblr account devoted to Taylor/Mayer and it actually revolted me.

Side note; fall 2009 must have been busy for Taylor. She wrote Ours then, and apparently her enchanted meeting with Adam in NYC was just a few days after the 09 VMAs as well.
