She only needs a hit in order to have longevity!

the spanish award show was okay, so was peoples choice.
Ellen is meh, Kimmel was only a talk show that wouldn't have much of an influence. Today show is meh too, and GMA she only performed once. Dancing with the stars is good. Z100 was only a concert
Stay strong was good too, and American Idol was great.
When you write that all down, it seems like much. But you know what? It happened in 9 months............ NINE MONTHS! half of the promo was BEFORE the album.
And i'm not denying, i know her promo was okay, but it wasn't GREAT, plus the whole era was a MESS. Have you ever heard of an artist that releases the second single like 5 months after the first one DIED!?! see.........

I hope that Demi does more songwriting on her next album and that she won't listen to her dumbass label or care about their opinions.

What else do you expect from a record label? If the general public isn't here for it after the promotion then why blame the record label? That's not in their control tbh... they have been promoting... We are just ignoring it and GYHAB was a mess

It breaks my heart to see artists I stan for 'underperform' (to not say another word). And no, of course I wouldn't leave them if they never have huge success. The only thing IS I wish all the best for them with their career....but if they decide be mediocre, then they won't last long in the industry.

Remember people, society remembers very GOOD and very BAD people. The rest...are irrelevant.

Yes, this is true. Without regards to any aspects of talent, Selena does actually have more longevity and (mostly) higher sales.

I think people are forgetting that Demi's "huge promo" was spread out through a year... And it was very inconsisent. She'd do a performance on DWTS and then we wouldn't hve anything for like a month. Many artists get the promo she got for this era in a week. And let's not forget the fact that there was a huge hap between her first single and her second single and by that time people forgot all about Demi. But Demi has proven time to time that she can be a great seller if she gets consistent and decent promo. I mean look at what the documentry did. It was hyped up well and all of her songs increased on iTunes and Unbroken went from being out of the itunes top 200 to being #9.

What Demi needs is more radio support. And she's just getting it and all you guys do is complain about the album's sales?

No, I'm discussing the overall aspect of her sales, not just her album numbers.

You have to understand that to have longevity one needs either very good promo spread out during their era, with strong RADIO (like you pointed out) singles that will keep the album selling consistently OR you go for the 'suicide cushion dive' kind of era, where you give it all your best in the first 2-3 months and sell like crazy, and then even if you under-perform selling your 2nd or 3rd single, you still made it enough to not call that era a flop.

You can do both, yes, but not if you're not extremely popular.

Demi is in the middle, really. Her first single was decent, not huge, but her promo is lacking and very, very inconsistent. This obviously is going to reflect on what she does for the remainder of her era, and possibly her next one (as an example, remember that Taylor Swift had SO MUCH HYPE after the Fearless era that the Speak Now era was pretty much mindblowing).
