Interesting that the people with the best applications are the ones assuming they got the worst critiques. Could this be an inferiority complex, or fishing for validation?

They needn't be just those two reasons. I think people tend to lower their expectations of themselves a tad to be careful, because depending on whether I assume I'm one of the people you're referring to or not, I can either come off as being cocky (if I'm wrong) or having an inferiority complex (if I'm right). Lose-lose really.

I definitely think I'm 6. 
I was worried that it was getting too long for a "short paragraph," but I wish I had elaborated.
I hope the judges see something in me anyway.
