It's a fact that Adele only sings in her "normal" range. She only sings the notes that are comfortable for her to sing. That's why people think she's the best singer. She never sings challenging things.
I just don't get the Adele critical appretiation vocally. Her songwritinng is great, and she's not that overrated on ATRL, but my friends thinks shes a better singer than mariah, celine, and whitney... I'm disgusted...
This, its just that demi is younger and doesn't have great control yet, but adele songs are so much easier to sing than demi's, why do you think people always sing them on singing shows?

Singing is so much more than just "hitting the notes". It's also about trying things out spontanous, experiencing with your range. A good voice and hitting the notes is not enough to make someone the best singer imo.
and they hit the original notes in the song unlike the "voice of a generation" as people like to name her, (but then again I will give that adele's performaces were pre-surgery so...)
