That's true. I forgot that the BMAs was "artistic." But honestly, the second half of that performance was what made it great. And that's why the X-Factor France RTW performance is just as amazing to watch as the BMA performance, if not better.
I'll try to keep it in mind, but "complement" isn't a word that's used much so I might forget.
lol dude, Madonna does not use props in her performances to distract the audience away from any lack of talent you think she lacks. I posted several performances without her "depending" on props/gimmicks/shock value.
And some of the props Madonna has used actually adds to the performance and helps gets a message across. Like the cross in the 'Live to tell' performance.

And all the while I was thinking Beyoncé would do so much better when I watched those stripped down performances you posted.
in terms of performing, it isn't. Or rather, in Madonna's case it isn't complementing what abilities she has when it's all taken away.
So being creative isn't a raw ability? If employing effective props and visuals in a performance isn't a raw ability, then why aren't all artists as hands on in the creation of their show? Why do some artists just have to show up and embarrass themselves on stage perform on stage with everything already in place for them?
And once again, you don't see the flaw. You take away Madonna's props and none of her abilities will be complimented. Okay. Take away Beyonce's abilities and what will be complimented?
GREATER THAN or EQUAL TO the BMA perfromance. Her "artistic" input added nothing to her performance skill. I know I'm basically proving your point that she doesn't "need" props or artful imagery, but she also doesn't know how to utilize those avenues.
I Disagree. her 2004 Grammy Performance of DIL utilizing interpretive dance and the picture frame to bring the story of the song to life was VERY creative and VERY artistic.
And all the while I was thinking Beyoncé would do so much better when I watched those stripped down performances you posted.
Beyonce would NOT be able to pull off a artistic performance like 'Live to tell' let alone be able to tell you what message Madonna was trying to get across.
Considering her voice is a instrument and she performs hers songs different every night on key .
which is harder then to find a thing that would piss of a religious group or have an Chinese army sized group of background dancers behind you.
Beyonce would NOT be able to pull off a artistic performance like 'Live to tell' let alone be able to tell you what message Madonna was trying to get across.
That's cool and all, but I was talking about the performances you posted where Madonna had nothing but a mic and a stage.
But props and visuals is Madonna's medium for performing. Just as Beyonce's is singing and dancing. Do you get it now? Comparing them superficially is ridiculous. You have to compare the pros and cons of HOW they perform if you want to argue who is better.

My point is, you shouldn't have asked the question if you wasn't going to be able to deal with the answer.
I never was unable to deal with the answer. In fact, there was never a question posed.

I think she does it because its her talent, I understand that because im the same way.
BUT, without those things (her vision) she would be a moving Rihanna on stage and you know it.
Yes, she can put shows together and make them look beautiful, but if thats her talent on stage then that doesnt make her a performer, especially not a better one than Beyonce who COULD do the high vision performances (if that was her thing) and she wanted to, but she doesnt.
