Beyonce is a better raw performer I guess when only looking at singing and dancing, but imo Madonna is the better performer including when theatrics. Madonna does not use theatrics as a crutch though, or anything. Heck, Madonna has always proclaimed herself as a performance artist first and foremost, before singer/dancer/etc. You also have to factor in things like charisma and stage presence. Madonna's performances are always about making statements.
Madonna uses stage props to make up for her lack of stage presence, she doesn't really have any memorable performance without them.
It's always the fans of artists with limited vocal ability who make excuses for why their fave can't do it. Beyonce's given theatrics, she's given you stripped down, she's given you art, she's given you a variety of different **** in her performances. She CAN do it all. When people think of madonna, they think of Sex, Cone bra's, and shock value. When people think of Beyonce, they think TOTAL package.
This. I don't understand the contradiction of Sats saying performers famous for lip-syncing should be excluded for consideration, yet he mentions Michael as one of the all time greats. He never relied on lip-syncing to cover a lack of vocal talent, but he still did it often enough.
And there we have the functioning definition of the word contradiction.
Madonna has shocking performances that become no longer shocking as time moves forward. So when you take the shock factor away what are you left with? Can some of y'all honestly say that you've actually watched Madonna's Like A Virgin VMAs performance and say that it's a good performance? I mean...

When beyonce can literally tell a theatrical STORY on stage, and YES with props and move you in THAT way. call me. show me. Because Madonna can do that, without the cone bra, without the sex and shock values in her tours.
And I'm not talking about beyonce singing If I were a boy in different variations. I'm not talking about her singing ave maria in a dress with wings. Thats beautiful, but can she theatrically tell a story?????
The one who spends the most money on set pieces and props and their best performances have 2 be at the vmas as well, no other stage or award show matters.

I dont think it is really, but that's not the point.
So because madonna uses props in her performances (for good reason btw, they are an accent for her performances and tours) that automatically denounces her as a performer?
Beyonce dosent need props, okay good for her. I get tired of people using that as an excuse for what makes a bad performer "she uses so many props, they overshadow her, she cant perform stripped down" BLA BLA BLA
You dont understand that there is different types of performers? For the love of PETE! Stop criticising madonna because she wants to make her live shows a form of art.
Ugh.
No one said Madonna was bad, we just said she isnt better than Beyonce.
If you're going to penalize certain artists for not singing live, then you have to do the same for all artists.
Just because you sing live that doesn't make anyone better than the next. Are Whitney and Mariah as good of performers as Michael? No. Obviously that tells you there's more to being a great performer than just singing live.
Janet is popular in Europe.
Madonna is a better performer than Beyonce.
If we're speaking on pop stars, Janet, Michael, and Madonna are the greatest entertainers of all time. They pretty much wrote the book on performing, while the artists of today are all still reading and taking notes from it.
Tina Turner wrote the book on stage performing for females, death at you trying to credit Janet and Madonna.
And im talking singing stage acts, because Josephine Baker wrote the book on memorable stage dancing and raunchiness.
