If you're going to penalize certain artists for not singing live, then you have to do the same for all artists.
Just because you sing live that doesn't make anyone better than the next. Are Whitney and Mariah as good of performers as Michael? No. Obviously that tells you there's more to being a great performer than just singing live.
Janet is popular in Europe.
Madonna is a better performer than Beyonce.
If we're speaking on pop stars, Janet, Michael, and Madonna are the greatest entertainers of all time. They pretty much wrote the book on performing, while the artists of today are all still reading and taking notes from it.
This. I don't understand the contradiction of Sats saying performers famous for lip-syncing should be excluded for consideration, yet he mentions Michael as one of the all time greats. He never relied on lip-syncing to cover a lack of vocal talent, but he still did it often enough.
Michael is on another level though. He doesn't count.
Huge part of this, Beyonces vocals are strong but shes not the only strong vocalist.
She is however the only vocalist that can do what she does with her voice.

She changes her voice so much you could have 20 songs on iTunes of the same track.
Considering her voice is a instrument and she performs hers songs different every night on key .
which is harder then to find a thing that would piss of a religious group or have an Chinese army sized group of background dancers behind you.
Whitney was a great performer. She's doesn't get enough credit in that aspect lol. U can tell she put effort into the performance. Even with her 2stepping and such, she had a great way of connecting to the audience. Mariah always looked confused, and awkward. Whitney looked more comfortable on stage, and confident. The way Whitney stood there with a hand towel and had her arms spread out was a way of performing itself, but what do I know lol
Exactly, Rihanna murdered this performance and was better than Madonnas VMA imo.
Madonna's 'Vogue' performance at the VMAs was mainly focused on the art aspect of it. It was performance art, much like Gaga's 'Paparazzi' performance at the VMAs.
