Notice that he didn't actually deny stealing the iPhone. He only denied doing anything wrong, which can be subjective. Meaning maybe he did steal it but he doesn't think he has done anything unlawful.

well if he did steal the phone in the first place, that makes it more worse that he thinks that he has done nothing wrong. Like really? Didn't he got taught in school that stealing is wrong? He should just stop talking about it.
