I agree, I don't think it's necessarily because of racism coming from the produces, casting directors, writers, but just plain fear it won't be successful, and let's face it, everyone in Hollywood wants success.

Even Shonda Rimes knows it, Grey's Anatomy has to have as its leading lady and man caucasian actors, and the majority of her supporting cast is a minority. One asian, three black, one latina. I'm just glad ABC is taking the chance cause Shonda's next show has been picked up for mid-replacement and the leading actress is black.

Yeah, I think there are plenty of latinos in media, you just don't know they're latino cause well, everything can look latino LOL. Latino isn't defined by race, just by a culture.

I don't see why black people are complaing. What about Latinos and Asians they have it way worse and I don't hear them complaining. Or how about a gay person who isn't playing a gay character?

Rolling my eyes at "complaining". If people never demanded equality and diversity nothing would ever happen. Open Vogue and tell me how many non-white faces you see in big designer adds. When was the last tim Chanel had a non-white model on the runway? Prada took their damn time before using Jourdan Dunn. And just like blacks, Latinos have had to have their own fashion magazine (LATINA) and other organizations because there's not enough represntation of their race in the media. Just like GLAAD focuses about gay treatment in TV, black organizations focus on the treatment of blacks.

Ever hear of GLAAD; it tries to do the same thing; promote more (better) representation of gays in the media. I'm sure Hispanics have their own organizations as well. Countless of latina actress talk about the lack of roles for latinas. Promoting a more diverse media is not complaining, what the ****.

It's not so much that there's a lack of them, but the roles that they're typically given are very racist and cliché.

You guys are just talking about pop culture. Black people generally do not get enough media spotlight when it comes to the news unless it's something negative or foolish. Black missing children do not get media coverage as opposed to missing white children. The media always focuses on missing white kids like Caylee Anthony or Elizabaeth Smart. I have yet to see the media focusing on a missing black child. There are black businesses that do not get enough media promotion. The black business owners have to do it themselves and promote their brand.
