What do you consider more important for a pop star? Voice or Vision? A pop star who is praised for her vocals like Whitney/Christina, but whose albums overall have gotten mixed reviews at best? Or a pop star who is not praised for her vocals like Madonna/Britney, but is praised for reinventing herself and has several albums that have been hailed as pop masterpieces?
Vision. The world is packed with people with great voices, but that won't take you far. You need to have something more to keep the public intrigued and interested.
Very few pop stars, if any, possess both. But I would say vision. I'm a big fan of Michael but his artistic vision is far superior than his vocals. And I can't believe I'm about to say this but I would honestly say Prince is like the only artist who has both the voice and vision.
I actually pick vision. But I personally think Christina delivers both vocally and artistically. And she's also been praised for reinventing herself from album to album.
I would say vision, as none of faves other than Mariah are recognized extremely for their vocals and I like unique singers. Although in my opinion, Mariah's voice was always enough for her. Not adding all the things she's done that she's never recognized for artistically.
But I'd say vision. I'd love me some Rihanna and Britney, but you have girls who are more talented than them, who don't see commercial success.... So vision is more important in today's market.
I picked vision because it really wouldn't make sense for me to pick voice considering the general opinion on my fave's voice... Even though I think it's just fine.

Your voice doesn't get you famous these days, your vision does. It's kinda sad cause music is originally intended to be "art in sound", but ahhhh wellllll
