idk. looking at the list of artists who generally perform during the Opening Ceremony, many appear to be in the latter stages of their career. I don't think she's that desperate in her career, yet.

The opening and closing ceremonies in Beijing pulled in between 1 and 4 BILLION viewers.

i'm just saying that people tune in for the sports and spectacle, not to hear some broad sing a pop tune.

The concerts/opening ceremony will still be heavily publicised though and the whole world's eyes will be on the Olympics, it'd be a great opportunity for her, in my opinion.

I can't think of any occasion in which performing at the Olympics drastically improved an artist's chart performance. when Sarah Maclachlan (sp) performed at the 2010 Winter Olympics, where was she on the Billboard 200 the following week? I liken it to the same effect of performing at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade...or New Years Rockin Eve
