Album: Lady Gaga - 'Born This Way' (#3)

One thing I hate about this era is that Gaga's music gets such small sales boosts from the amount of huge and effective promotion she has done and continues to do for the album and single.
I mean, MTN and BTW failed to crack the top 10 in the UK after an X-Factor, CIN, Alan Carr and EMAs performance this month.

If the video is a mess too I can't imagine what will happen
I mean do people even have the attention span to sit through 7 minutes on the backstory of Lady Gaga, yet alone sit through the remainder of a messy (if it is) video
And I agree that #78 isn't so bad right now. Marry the Night is really just starting, and Gaga has only performed it live once so far. Upcoming performances and the music video should push it higher. If not, then we can panic and anticipate the cancellation of the BTW Ball and the release of her new single off her new album.

Ultimately no amount of promotion will sell a song the public just doesn't want.
Look at "We Found Love." It got one performance on X Factor but had already been at #1 after just a video.

Marry the Night won't go TOP10
And you know what? It's fine, this will wake up Lady Gaga.
...
I Keep the strong feeling that the BTWBall will be canceled.

But it was also predicted to never reach the Top 10 and was doubted to make the Top 20 on Billboard.

Born This Way [single] did fine, though I never expected it to do as well as Poker Face. Judas was a well deserved flop. The Edge of Glory seemed to live up to its promo, but the video really killed its buzz. If she had put together a video to remember, the buzz alone could have given the single an added buzz. You and I has been performed for at least 2 years it feels. It did increase after her VMA performance, but the single wasn't going to do any better than that. Marry the Night has only been performed once, where it did amazing. Now imagine had she performed at the AMAs...

That's because it didn't have the radio support in the UK. It had about 500 plays at the time and most songs in the top 10 had atleast 1,500 - 2,000 plays.

Saving some posts for later, btw.

Wake her up from what? Everyone crucified her when she released Y&I because she didn't release MTN. "SHE'S SO BLIND, SHE SHOULD HAVE RELEASED MARRY THE NIGHT. SHE'S A ****ING IDIOT AND NEEDS TO OPEN HER EYES." Now that she released MTN and it's not #1 in 203 countries a week later, she still needs to wake up? Gaga's doing absolutely everything her fans want her to do for this single and yet it's still not enough...
And you think the BTW Ball will be canceled? Who the **** cancels a tour for an album that sold 5,000,000+ copies? Stop thinking single sales is the only thing that matters.

I would not doubt MTN's success just yet. There is no real evidence to suggest that it is going to flop hard, especially out of the top 10. She has to release the video and do some more performances. All of which are happening this very week! So let's wait and see. If these see MTN declining then yeah....

Radio is not playing it anymore. It's falling on iTunes, we already had 2 previews, no buzz about it. People just don't like the song. TOP10? I don't think so. This won't sell even 1 million copies.
Well she had to release the most boring song of her career.

Wake her up from what?
She hasn't been sleeping... Shes been busting her ass off trying to promote the music SHE wants to make. She is STILL selling albums making the music SHE wants to make, I don't understand what kind of sleep shes in.

Let's cool it down.
First, there were quite a few people who did like her fourth single decision, so let's not generalize.
Second, I hate how if you're not completely feeling something this era, you're automatically deemed negative. Girls need to respect everyone's feelings and contempt for this era period.

This. The song is already a top 20 hit on Top 40 radio without the song doing a thing on iTunes, without a video, and with only one live performance on Thanksgiving day. Once the video is released Thursday, I expect the song to hit the top 20 on iTunes at least.

You and I is much more commercial + better than Marry the Night. It was a great single. MTN is boring, it makes me sleep tbh. And yes this will wake her up because her next album needs to have hits, a thing that she forgot in this era.

When you say things like, "MTN won't go top ten. Maybe it'll wake Gaga up," you don't need to be deemed negative because you are being negative. If MTN doesn't do anything, I will be more than happy to move on from this era, but it's ridiculous that people are complaining about the US performance when there has been no promo or a video.
