I was surprised too when I looked at her wikipedia article the other day to see how extremely well she actually has been doing there since Breakway came out.

Very surprised at Britney #1 - her popularity seemed to really be on the way out in Europe.
And VERY surprised Kelly Clarkson made it already. She's hardly been popular for a year over there.
