I know this song is not entirely loved here on ATRL but I do. Especially when I saw the video which was beyond awesome! And the intro to this song (ANGELIC!) and how Ke$ha delivered that in her live performances without autotune! And the theme of this song which is about being obsessed with someone who already has a bf/gf and how I can relate to that! And how the lyrics are pure magic especially that pre-hook and how it... YES!

All the Tik Tok resemblance made the song less likable. It's a fun song. But summer is over.
But yeah, it still is a smash hit!

It's a pretty boring song but at least it has sentiment and soul. I love how Katy's vocals turn from orgasmic to hurting.

I never really liked this song. I think it's trying hard to be uplifting plus the metaphors (ehem, plastic bag) are unbearable! Cheesy as ****! Then it became overplayed and I hated it even more. But the general public likes it.

Ke$ha tries something entirely different here and succeeds. It's not really a highlight of Animal, but I enjoy it.

How this wasn't last is beyond me. It's truly one of the ugliest songs I've ever heard in my entire life.

Cutesy fun, but not nearly as exhilarating nor transformative a party anthem as "Tik Tok," its clear sister track.

Personally, I think the Avril Lavigne sample is genius. And any chorus that so clearly invites the listener to sing along is smart pop songwriting. I'm really not sure why voters rejected it.

Positively gorgeous. It's no surprise that ATRL, with its lowbrow tastes, isn't here for it, but "Not Like the Movies" is one of the only tracks on Teenage Dream that transcends the highly deliberate Dr. Luke hit-making and breaches into legitimately artistic musical territory.

Way underrated. The electric guitars are a great touch, and it's one of Rihanna's best vocal performances ever. A total throwback, and a nice respite among the relentless dance beats of Loud.

It may not go to dynamic enough places to compete with the huge songs that surround it, but "Fading" is far from filler. Watching all these Loud tracks fall one by one is depressing, because they are miles better than so much basicness found on some of these other albums.

Alright, now this is some ********. This song is indisputably top five material, people! TOP FIVE. It may follow the same party-rocking, club-banging formula as "Tik Tok" (appealingly boisterous energy + irresistibly massive hook = song of the year!), but it's better in every way. A perfect 10.

I was once a defender of "Firework," but that massive hook must have blinded me. Listening to it again for this rate, I realized how trite and average it really is. I won't miss it.
