#2 California Gurls is generic song, ask other people and not some blinded fans and you'll see what they will say.
Video theme 'whipped-cream-boobs',"look at my boobs" performances.
People couldn't take her seriously. And at the end,to make things worse you have her lying naked on clouds of cotton candy on album cover. How the **** you think that doesn't effect album sales?Do you really think that will attract casual buyers?Do you really think that will attract parents to buy album for her younger fans?Do you really think people won't be embarrassed buying it?
Do you really think "generic trashy Ke$ha rif-off,tacky image,whipped-cream-boobs image doesn't effect sales?Who are we kidding here?
#3 Then you ****ing quoted my post so I responded. You are ****ing dumb for thinking California Gurls isn't generic and you're ****ing dumb for saying "how can an 5 million seller song be generic".
I was making point about how her image effected her sales and I have ****ing point there.Of course she should open with more sales after this huge album but not without surefire smash. And again that still doesn't change fact about TD opening numbers.**** off.

How old are you? No need to take things so personal.

Okay so you want me to bring in other pop stars? Okay fine 'N Sync is pop right? Well their album "No Strings Attached" sold over two million in it's first week, the highest ever. It's lead single Bye Bye Bye only went to #4 on the Hot 100. So did Bye Bye Bye cause No Strings Attached to sell over 2 million or did *NSYNC (their first album) cause that? Same thing with their 3rd album Celebrity. Its lead single
peaked at number 19. Yet it sold over 1.8 million in its first week. It was clearly riding the success of their previous albums...
The Back Street Boy's Black and Blue and Millennium both sold over a million and yet neither of its lead single went #1.
What about Britney's Opps!... I Did It Again? The lead single only went to number 9 on the hot 100. Yet it sold over 1.3 million in its first week. The highest of any female artist. I think it's pretty clear that ... Baby One More Time caused it to sell over a million rather than the lead single.
Both of Eminem's albums The Marshal Mathers LP and The Eminem Show both sold over a million and neither of their lead singles went #1.
The was a computational Beatles album that was released in 2000. It sold over a million. No lead single.
In fact there are 17 albums that sold over a million in it's first week. Only three of them had a lead single that went #1. That was I Will Always Love You, Confessions, and Born This Way.
Shows that lead singles really don't have that much of an effect.

I loved the video California Gurls. I thought it was pretty unique. What was she supposed to do? Have a party on a beach? Katy Perry herself said that was uninventive and not unique. The candy themed video was cute, different, and unexpected. Yea she was selling sex in it too, but most female artists sell sex. I can only think of Adele as being an exception. Maybe Beyonce.

If you really want to bring in that argument too, then I will argue with you too, but looking at the maturity of this post it really doesn't look worth my while. Yes, I quoted you, but I actually responded to what you said. When you quoted me you didn't respond at all. All you said is "I can't take you seriously 'cause your dumb" and then you dug up the old argument about CG, rather than respond to what I said about OOTB's lack of success.

Yes, her album will sell more, but it doesn't necessarily need to have "sure fire a smash". I still want her to have a big smash and a good opening just because she is on a role.

*just saw your thread*
How rude can you be? You cherry picked my quote and made a thread about it for what? To embarrass me? To drag me? So that you could feel special with a bunch of people agreeing with you? Why the hell did you have to dig up that argument? Pathetic.
