If Rihanna was such a huge star she would be attracting much more sales in her first week... It shows that she does not have a huge fan base in the US, but is able to attract the casual album buyers due to her success of her singles. No hit single for Rihanna and it's basically over, while others can still sell units on their name alone.

that's why you release singles to have LONGEVITY smh you think artist would waist their time, effort and money on releasing singles if they didn't expect it to have any impact on their album sells

And granted she's not a huge seller in the U.S but last time I checked, WW sales>>>>>U.S sales

I see people trying to defend the indefensible. Those sales are underperfoming counting that she had the #1 song of the country for 5 straight weeks and counting.

Solid first weeks of sales never have been her strength. She still has her power for selling singles and longevity for albums sales. So let's not be pressed Navy, she will do fine, but that #1 ain't coming for telling lies about other artists.

The most radical change on the album was the image. It's not like the songs didn't bear the trademark Rihanna sound and hooks. Rude Boy hit 150M+ AI for christ's sake, and it still didn't sell ****.

And who cares if Born This Way isn't doing as well as The Fame? Think of it as Madonna's True Blue. Gaga can easily come back with a Ray of Light.

There's really no excuse why Rihanna shouldn't be pulling in at least 300K+ off her name alone, Def Jam should of just let Cheers finish its run, and release TTT in March or April in 2012. This era is just too rushed, hopefully Rih takes at least a year break and come back fresh in 2013.
