rihanna fans really are stupid, for being a legend we dont talk about "eras" , we are talking about career, and rihanna highly sexual woman vocal quality is low, only highlights their number # 1 with endless collaborations with rappers, that is to be queen of pop not have a song on the number # 1 earned by yourself and not rely on the other artisthave a record every year and sell almost 3 million a year that is to be queen? take a tour and you can not travel the world because nobody anger? not me but rihanna and katy queens? I cried millions of years and I see all the fans of ri ri when we Thalk we Thalk *****s sell 2.5 million and go unnoticed for the miserable truth, Loud 6 million have given them hope. but not as you were only fixed on riri was very bad and will have a thread in atrl these disappear.

Katy will be forgotten soon.
Rihanna I don't think will be leaving for awhile.

Someone who has sold millions of albums and even millions more singles, and is the third most followed person on Twitter is going to be forgotten soon? Some people just kill me.

Katy's going to fall after this era, it would be ridiculous to say she isn't.

And what do you have to base this on? It is ridiculous to say she is, with the fact she is one of the most talked about pop stars in the world. She isn't just going to fall after this era.

You really think she's going to sell JUST as many singles she did this last era? That's ridiculous. All artists fall after huge eras, just to varying degrees.

I will applaud her for Rated R not being necessarily trendy (though still commercial in many ways).

Well... I have to agree with this.

Guess we'll find out! By the looks of it, I wouldn't be surprised if Rihanna releases a new album next year. What separates We Found Love from anything on Loud? Though to be fair, can't really judge one song. I just think Talk That Talk will be pretty similar to what we've already heard from Rihanna - probably just more or less of her previous versions - in which she will get bored of it...if boredom is the determining factor for when Rihanna makes new music (which appears to be every 8 months).
|
We will find out. It sounds like TTT is going to be a more urban, edgier, sound with a few dance/house tracks for good measure. I believe it will be different, but as you said, we will see.

I'm really confused too. Didn't a Rihanna fan stan that Rihanna got tired of having to be "emo chick" with Rated R, and wanted to make something happier with Loud? So she got happy, then got bored of it?
|
Rihanna had to become happy eventually from the incident, but she said that she's going to miss the Rated R era a lot. I really don't think she got "bored" of that one, but no one except fro Rihanna can ever be sure.

Of course they all look different, no one should dispute that. But these album covers show case the most. Rihanna just changes her hair color. Not necessarily the substance (except Rated R). I'll use Janet Jackson, who had a new hairdo every album, as an example. Her first album was about self-empowerment, then she moved onto social injustices/racism, then sexuality, then depression/abuse/sexuality, and then her next albums all sounded the same. I feel like Rihanna is in the latter portion right now, where she is just making the same concept over and over - but just changing one small aspects in hopes the world will think it is different. I can sell the same product door to door, but would it be different just because I wear a different suit each time?
|
That's a really good metaphor, actually. But Rihanna went from Carribean-Pop on A Girl Like Me to Urban-Pop/R&B on Good Girl Gone Bad to dubstep/hip-hop/rock on Rated R to reggae/country/euro-pop on Loud. That sounds like a re-invention to me.

Hardly, but you are right - they aren't carbon copy. Nonetheless, Only Girl and We Found Love really aren't world's a part. I mean, I Kissed a Girl to California Girl - two different songs. Bad Romance to Born This Way - two different songs.
There's nothing wrong with the songs being the same. I stanned hard for Bad Romance, which is the twin to Poker Face. While BR did show growth (through the video and musical structure), still the same as Poker Face practically. But the reinvention was hardly ignored - as the concepts and visuals of both eras are pretty different.
|
I would actually say "Judas" is the twin of "Bad Romance", but that's a different topic.
The same can be said for OG and WFL. The songs have a very different structure, and the video concepts are very different. OG is about being the only girl in the world, where Rihanna is dancing around in fields and sitting in flower patches etc. WFL video is a story about two people who built an entire relationship off the euphoric feelings of drugs. The videos are completely different.

WFL and OG are one in the same in every which way. Play WFL while watching OG...or vice versa...it wouldn't really matter.
|
Watch the WFL video again.

Rihanna is aiming to her UK fans because that is the smartest thing the label could do. She's so big in the UK, and House/Euro music is far more popular than anything right now. If traditional polka music was in flavor, Rihanna would be tending to those fans too. There is nothing wrong with any of this. Rihanna is just doing her job by the end of the day.
|
I can't argue this.

Maybe, maybe not, though probably not. Still doesn't mean she is just going to "fall off", I mean, look at Rihanna.

Rihanna didn't really have a successful era with Rated R in comparison to the Good Girl Gone Bad era.

I know, but after her successful era, she didn't just "fall off" was my main point.

What the **** are you talking about? Your kid sister and their friends must either be very young, stupid, or your making stupid assumptions.
Everyone that isn't stupid is aware of Mariah Carey is! They may not be able to name any of her songs, but they are still aware who she is. I literally just asked my brother who doesn't even pay attention to mainstream music or society tbh, if he knew who Mariah Care was. He said "Duh!"

You never can predict an artists peak point of popularity! look at usher he had a few number 1 songs befor he had a huge album were he got multiple #1's. and justin timberlake, he had a great run with the boy band and made a solo career that was even bigger and people said he was the one least likely to make it big! so with people saying katys next era wont be as big, it could be her biggest ever. youll never know untill you hear her next album
