I remember seeing a magazine spread a few months back about Katy and Rihanna, it said Katy was the queen of pop and Rihanna was the queen of R&B two artists produce pure dance-pop albums, the white one is branded as pop, the black one is labeled as R&B.

Madonna is the queen. Then it will be Lady GaGa... No time for black artists now, sorry.

This thread isn't racist. This thread is about racism. You do know racism still exists right? It's not as pronounced as before, but it still lives in more subtle ways. One example relevant to this forum is the media's portrayal of popstars.

Some of you really try Janet. Janet has been referred to as QOP since the early 90's and until this day. You misinformed souls wish your fave has had a lasting impact that Janet has. But the media has dubbed Madonna the QOP and that's just the way it is. And besides, do you really care about the title since it's being thrown around like your faves wig.

This is why I avoid threads like these, it just turns into stan wars that are tedious and boring to read through.

I don't know if I would call it racism though. Silly racial stereotyping, yeah, but not bigotry. I mean on the other hand, a black artist can still produce "white" pop and not get **** for it, while 90% of the time a white artist can't produce "black" rap/hip-hop without getting accused of trying to be black.

It's just one of those things, like gender stereotyping, age stereotyping, etc. etc. that will always be around.
