Rihanna and Katy are only big because they cater to the public and give them what they want. The moment they stop doing that or someone else comes along, they'll be forgotten. They don't have the massive fanbase to stay in the game for years and years to come and they're focusing on getting **** done now as opposed to solidifying their futures in this business.
If you disagree, look up the word "delusional".

Rihanna was pretty big during the Good Girl Gone Bad era, and then GaGa came along. Rihanna then made music that the public didn't really want from her ( Rated R), and GaGa was starting to become really popular. Rihanna came back from that and now is in fair competition with GaGa as to who is the biggest popstar on the planet right now. Rihanna has proved that she won't be forgotten when someone else comes along.

Nah, a Gaga vs. Katy & Rihanna Poll would be better and more realistic.

Successful =/= legendary
Madonna and Bono are the only two that fit "legend"

Gaga fans are so annoying lol... I'm pretty sure Christina has performed with Elton John, Tony Bennett AND Cher. Is she the Queen of Pop? No.
Anyone with a great management team can pull some strings to get a collab on the go, and that's ALL Gaga has done. It's funny because most Gaga fans didn't even know who ****ing Bruce Springsteen, Yoko Ono, etc were before Gaga started collabing with them and now they wanna act like they've got exquisite taste in music because they've only now just started to take an interest in those artists.

'Judas' was a big hit? If you say so.
Alejandro referenced Jesus in the lyrics? I must have missed it.
Born This Way? "Cause God makes no mistakes".
You and I? Again, I must have missed the constant religious references to make the song a big hit.

And where would Katy be without her big **** and Dr. Luke?
How come all y'all can talk about is Gaga's gimmicks? It's like you don't think Katy and Rihanna's sex appeal aren't gimmicks that their labels play upon since they can't really play upon anything else. xD

The future of pop is already here. The future of pop is the reason the current pop girls have been upping their game and putting out big music videos and wearing crazy ****.

I see Rihanna lasting much longer than Katy to be honest, I don't think she will just dissapear but I think Rihanna is much more versatile and her attitude, although quite harsh, attracts people because it seems real whereas Katy is getting a Xtina like reputation.
We shall see though, I get your point. Katy could well transform for her next era and surprise us all, I somehow doubt it though but I will happily eat my words if she gives me an amazing album.
|
This Xtina-like reputation only exists on boards like this where queens get pressed over other successes who are not their favorites. It seems non-existent in the REAL world. Katy is harmless.
