People only hate on her because most of her biggest hits are songs she can't really sing very well live.
If she released songs regularly like "The One That Got Away" or "Hackensack" where she truly shines vocally, it'd be a different story.
She sounds really good on those kinds of songs. Katy has a great recording voice for the pop hits she records, but she doesn't have the greatest live voice to support those #1's she poops out.
Then again, if she released the kinds of songs she truly excels in vocally, she probably wouldn't have as many hits.
I think this "at least she sings live" excuse is hilarious. Okay, she sings live, but that doesn't change the fact that she sounds bad. Also, this "people are pressed" excuse is hilarious. You don't have to be pressed to dislike someone and/or think they can't sing.
People make fun of her because she's just your typical popstar with nothing special about her. No one takes her seriously, even after five #1 singles.

The fact that she can sing, and we have the videos to prove it, makes all the excuses as to why she sucks a fail. Does she always sing perfect and great at every performance? No, but neither does your fave or anyone else's. They are all human, and to blame Katy for being human is ignorance. End thread.

She can sing fine when she's not singing the messy songs Dr. Luke produced for her. She sounded fine during her last era, but even then, her voice is not that strong and it's horrible when she's moving around.
Saying her good performances outweigh her bad.... That's just not true. The American Music Awards performance from last year is so bad that it's one of her most memorable.
Don't use this "she's just human" excuse. Yes, she's human, but she's a famous singer, therefore she should be able to sing always. No ifs, ands, or buts.
