I second this. I'm really get tired of everyone insulting Rihanna's other work and praising Rated R. Yes, Rated R was fantastic. But you are not a stan if you only love and appreciate 1 of her albums and 1 of her eras. I understand being displeased, but DAMN. Loud was an album that was made to return Rihanna to the top after Rated R. Period, point blank. Clearly it's not going to be her best work. Saying that her music is on a downward spiral is purely delusional. Loud may have been a bump in the road, but for NOW, that's all it is. We've only heard ONE song from the sixth album, so we are in no position to be making assumptions like this.
Music of the Sun is gone. A Girl Like Me is gone. Good Girl Gone Bad is gone. Rated R is gone. Loud is gone. This needs to be understood.
!!!!!!
Rated R is amazing, we all know that. But if Chris never beat her up, it would have never happened. Her fans need to realize it was a once in a lifetime type of album.
I actually can, but I'm not going to continue this discussion because I find it offensive that you would think the Rated R era was contrived. Rihanna's face was PUNCHED IN by the man she loved. She was betrayed, broken, and hurt. Yet you're going to claim Rated R was something that her label came up with? Really, how dare you.
First of all, another member said the album was contrived in his OPINION, you said it wasn't, that's when I came along and co-signed that member's post. The album was heavily contrived and I already said how it was a page or two back.
I agree with both of you. Though, I'm guilty of being THAT stan that wanted the "old Rihanna" back and hoped for a new era to be similar to an old era. But I've realized that Rihanna isn't about that. We will never get any previous Rihanna eras back. THAT is why we need to appreciate the eras as they come, because we'll end up missing it after it's over with.

Precisely. Rihanna is about reinvention. She is never one to recreate something she did before. Granted, there are a few songs of hers that are rehashes of her previous hits, but her eras are never just a previous one recycled. Her music always reflects how she is at a certain time. Maybe some people want Rated R back, but that's simply not the mind state that Rihanna is in right now. PLUS, she's ONLY 23. Let her have her fun. She has a long career ahead of her which could be FILLED with Ray of Light's, The Velvet Rope's, etc. Why is anyone giving up hope now?
Cheers isn't deep.... at all. It's about going out and getting drunk off your ass after a stressful week.
"Life's too short to be sitting around miserable,
People gon' talk whether you're doing bad or good"
Explains life in two sentences. Cheers is a such feel-good song, and it has the most substance in 'Loud' (after LTWYL Part II), and it ***** on discographies whether you like it or not.
It's basically a "****-haters" songs and people who try to bring you down because you only live once.

Thank you!!! people act like she just rolled out of bed one day and decided 'im going to make a deep and meaningful album' NO that was the only choice she had because of her ordeal
Rihanna fans, you keep missing the point. You think that Rihanna is actually there, somewhere in the world, thinking "OMG my fans deserve more music even though I keep giving them new music every day, let's go and record a new album in less than a week then release it two month later!!!". No.
Def Jam wants to milk more and more money of YOU . That's the main reason why they are releasing her sixth album. Also because they are DUMB.
Um NO.
They may want money - but Rihanna is doing the biggest tour of her life - and hasnt had a break in who knows when. Rihanna is NOT just a label puppet. She may do what the label asks sometimes, but if they lost her, they would be ****ed. She's the biggest female on their label. Her and Justin Bieber rank in the most money.
If she really didnt want something - she could walk away, and they dont want to risk that. I feel that she loves to constantly record, and found that she recorded so much good material that she wanted a new album. And maybe she was tired of the Loud era.

OMG. Get over this. I'm over people crying from Rated R Rihanna back. Sis, she got ****ed the hell up. Her face was beat to a pulp by the man that she loved. Obviously her songs are going to be darker, more mature lyrically, and different than ever. But if you take out Rated R, Rihanna has been improving more and more. She started as a ghetto hood rat - matured to more dance Pop, and then experimented even more with Loud - S&M, Man Down, California King Bed, Only Girl and Whats My Name.
Nothings happening to her. Watch We Found Love be the weakest on the album. If you were only here for Rated R Rihanna, then get over it and dont stan anymore.
Nobody is crying over "RATED R" From MOTS - RR had meaningful songs and not just quick fluffly hits. I'm not 1 album stan. I've been a fan since the AGLM era and stan since GGGB. Nothing about LOUD is innovative. It's all over the place with no REAL message or theme behind it. I'm not the only just sayng ths too. Even CRTICS agree. It was like she just went into the studio and recorded all the songs she liked without giving them a second thought if the album would make sense. As i said before i don't mind POP FUN Rihanna. Especially since GGGB is my favorite album from her. You guys are missing the point. In terms of quality music Rihanna could do so much better and you know it. She's not living up to the standard type of music she said was going to do from now on with Rated R. And when i mean standard i'm not talking about dark depressing music I mean artistic growth and QUALITY MUSIC.
