Dude, go to any SERIOUS American Idol Message board like idolforums.com and most Clarkson fans will admit that Kelly spent most iof the season hoarse! And read some old recaps, I can guarantee some will have Justin or Tamyra ranked higher than Kelly on somenihgts, Kelly just managed to perform on the same level consistently EXCEPT her half-assed Whistle note on "Natural Woman"!

She ALSO won a reality show, and as much as I like Ruben, Fantasia and HATE Carrie, I know they'd be nowhere without American Idol, so she might as well be a newb to me. Chris Brown actually got signed the way most artsts do; actual work!

#2: The show wasn't made for Clarkson to win and just have other people eliminated in any random order, the show was to find a new star, which happened to be unfortunately her
#3: If they were worthless, how did some of them eventually get deals? Sure, they might not have lasted, but they got singed and some even made return appearances to the show. Tamyra writes like every ****** song that the winner sings nowadays ("I Believe" anyone ), I know Christina Christian returned to the show to perform her colossal flop of a single "Forever And Ever", and Nikki has managed to make money off saying how she should've made the Top 2. Haha of course you Kelly Clarkson fans are going to think every song could be a hit. You guys think just because a song is by an artist you like, you automatically have to like it and it's a "hit." Newsflash, radio always plays the same bands over and over just like TRL does. I'm willing to admit when a song by my favorite artists sucks and I don't even hate Kelly Clarkson but after the first 4 songs the cd isn't that good (Breakaway isn't either). So that narrows it down to only a few good songs. And don't give me that opinion crap because you all make your own opinions too.

I'm Sprung won't hit the On Deck IMO. It's way too old. And things don't look so good for "Check On It" either.

No, well at least not me. On many CDs I listen to like the All American Rejects, I like the band a lot, but so many songs on the CD are just not good, and are pretty bland. But the Kelly Clarkson CD, imo, is a different story, because I never once got bored with it. I'm still listening to it today after 13 months of it being out. The CD is pretty good, the singles, imo, have been pretty good, and although they have played them out on radio like hell, a lot of the songs on her CD are pretty good. And her next single "Walk Away" is awesome.

Kelly's 2nd album, one that is almost free of American Idol influence, is almost 5x platinum. Any other "Idol" with a 5x platinum album?

Kelly has had 4 top 10 singles from Breakaway. I believe that makes her the 1st pop artist to do that since Christina's debut album.

Kelly has 6 top 10 singles overall. That's more than ALL THE OTHER IDOLS COMBINED. All of them reached top 10 on airplay as well, and being that pop artists don't get played on Rhythmic or Urban stations, that's pretty damn impressive.

Just saying, winning AI does not guarantee success. You don't like her as an artist, fine, but claiming that AI is the sole factor for Kelly's success is quite foolish.

If she didn't win AI there'd be no Breakaway so she had to win to have success

Winning AI only gives you a record contract. Then, there's the matter of, oh, making hit singles, gaining public acceptance, and selling over 10 million albums.

I agree, people ALWAYS make that same generalization.
Kelly did get a leg up from AI, but I see the rest of the way being paved by herself. Kelly just earned her success and attention faster than other regular artists, but nonetheless she still goes through the same "struggles" as a lot of other artists do.


As far as the question if she would be around today without AI, that would be a very likely "No." Then again, no one, unless your a psychic or a timetraveler, can predict that.

Wow a lot of you people are really stupid. Kelly is a much better singer then Tamyra Gray will ever be. I dont even think that is an opinion, could you ever see Tamyra hitting the notes that kelly did? No. Kelly deserved to win that competition. End of discussion. Someone else also said that kelly isnt attractive. Well that is your opinion and i know lots of people who would disagree with you. And are people forgetting that Kelly was struggling to make it in the business before she got her break on American Idol. She was making demos and sending it to all kinds of people trying to get her name out there. Nothing was happening. She moved to los angeles where her apartment burned down the day she moved in so she went back to texas. Her big break was winning american idol. And people need to stop acting like that wasnt a hard thing to do or something. I guaruntee that nobody in the music industry now would have won that show.

Just because she won didnt give her her success. It was probably harder for her than a normal artist because she had to gain the respect and not just be known as a competition winner. Also, do you see any other of the idols have a percent of the success she has had? No. So everyone just needs to shut up.

There's noway that she could've beaten vocalists like Deborah cox or and if Gay Aiken had auditioned that season, I'm sure she would'nt have won. She wasn't a good performer at all. You can go back and look at AI Videos, and you seel her standing still in 99% of them. Nikki moved more than her! Do your research, she's nothing more than manufactured, recycled Avril Lavigne with a twist.

And it's ok if you don't like her style of music. Over 10 million others do. Just stop dismissing Kelly as a legitimate artist. There are so many others in the music industry that are far less deserving than she is.
