I like Rihanna just fine, but I'm definitely sick of hearing her music. It's been too much, too quickly.

I don't think I'm the only one. Cheers is doing okay, but not amazing, and both Man Down and California King Bed didn't do so hot overall. I think the general public and radio are starting to grow a bit tired too.

That said, all it takes is one hit song to turn that around and I really hope Rihanna's next single and album does well for her.

Rated R was (so far) the critical highpoint of her career, but Rihanna is not just an artist putting out music. She is a popstar, a global icon. Making albums like Rated R is not going to cut it. Loud is what she had to do in order to stay a big player in the music industry.

Rihanna is a popstar, and sad to say, a lot of times what is "high quality" and what is a hit differs. She's one of the few people in the world who can intertwine between both on a consistent basis.

Agreed, I'm just sayin.....

You can still be a "popstar" and put out critically appeasing music.

...and it's not like Rude Boy wasn't a massive hit. It was on the critically acclaimed Rated R and still maintained her "big player in the music industry" status.

Rihanna is a puppet. She do as she is told. Whatever Def Jam says goes. ... I dont buy her music, so I dont care how many albums she releases. But if she has some cute songs, I will download.

Yes but it seems like this consistent effort to churn out albums on the fly is beginning to come at the cost of the music, as if commercial success and money is more important to Rihanna and even more so her team and label than the actual music, which undoubtedly seems to be the case.

Who are we kidding, that IS the case. And that's a wrap folks.

Wrong.

As a whole, both albums have their highlights (RR, FB, CCL; OG, CKB, MD) and lowlights (Rockstar, Photographs ; Complicated, RM) but there's one glaring difference.

Loud is the commercial success and was able to provide 3 #1 hits, as well as a Top 10, let alone snatched up a Grammy. Rihanna (and every other pop star out there) is here for hits and success. That is a bottom line, albeit sad, fact.

Rated R was a gift. Had she gone ahead and kept making albums like that, she'd be out of the industry within 4 years.

I won't believe a single soul who has the delusions to tell me that songs like Only Girl, California King Bed, Man Down, and What's My Name don't stand up to, if not surpass a majority of the songs on Rated R.
