With hype, after 3years her last album i knew that the song will smash, but i didnt think, that it will fall so hard... For me the longevity is more important as chart peak positions....

ETA: Actually, the 2 Top 10 hits Glee Cast had didn't have that huge of a tumble during their second week after all. Don't Stop Believin' was 4-26, and Teenage Dream was 8-36 in their second weeks.

Of course Teenage Dream hasn't sold as many albums as Bad...TD was released in 2011, not the 1800's.
Back in MJ's day, albums could crack 20 million in the USA alone, these days, albums struggle to pass 5 X platnium.
Katy is almost at 2 X platnium, which is a very respectable amount, especially for someone who is meant to be a singles artist, Katy is slaying, no doubt about it.

the problem is that BAD sold 30.000.000 copies worldwide... no matter when it was...

Lady Gaga's The fame sold 14.000.000 copies in 2009-2011 so... being in this days is no excuse.

Of course album sales nowasdays are worse... but Teenage Dream could be at 3.5M in the US and 7M WW and we wouldn't be talking about this.... The problem is that she has sold half of that
