but she isn't coming for MJ'S ANYTHING.

there is so much more to MJ than just the records he broke (he broke about 8927692579 records btw, so katy breaking this one is pretty much a non m*f**n factor), he left a legacy behind. who is gonna be jamming to last friday night in 25 years? whereas MJ's music, his style, his everything is timeless.

the title of this thread needs to be changed to "katy about to break one of MJ's records" because right now the title suggests that she's about to be GREATER than MJ, which is a damn insult and if i were MJ i'd be rolling in my grave

I can say it doesn't seem like Katy is even TRYING to break this record, or any other record for that matter. She hasn't had any promotion except the USUAL music videos.... since the album was released, lol. Oh, she did ET on American Idol... but seriously, the girl is JUST being a pop artist and providing fas with an album, releasing single that have music videos (whoch EVERYONE does)... and that's it. She isn't going on a handful of talk shows and talking/performing. She did when the album came out... nearly a YEAR ago.

That speaks volumes to me... but I am a huge Katy fan anyway!

Honestly, Katy has slayed everyone out there in terms of singles. Why not let her have this record, she deserves it. Stop hatin'..

What?? Her promotion has been amazing and believe it or not it was crucial to the success of some of the singles. Just think of:
- Firework competition on YouTube/gathering so many people from around the world to make the video/flooding YouTube with clips of the video making etc..
- E.T. - getting Kanye, the whole abduction theme, the mosaic, her making people post pictures of themselves with ET make-up
- Katy Beth Terry?

Her promotion is just out of this world.

I just took the ET hoopla as part of the video. As well as Kathy Beth. Promotion, yes, but to me it just goes hand in hand with the video. Others give brief teasers or photos... Katy comes in on another level. *shrugs*
