So we should completely rely on response based on how high songs got? *sees "Amy"*
If you have forgotten, those performances didn't do much of anything for ANY of the songs performed. And only viewed by a handful of people. Your choice of reasoning would be more sensible if she performed on Idol, or a show that actually got legit viewers, during a time where people are actually sitting & watching. Not as they're heading to work & not caring, or heading to bed & not caring.
And airplay does A LOT. That's the promotion that we won't be getting. We can't be blind to the fact that it's the most accessible way to get your song to people's ears. If labels only depended on how a song performed on iTunes, that's being lazy, and we get enough laziness from Jive/their management teams. Again, see "Amy". I guarantee you "Shattered Glass" would've bombed if it were a single too. Those are just FANS buying the fan favorite. The general public isn't going to the album and choosing particular songs. If that were the case, "IWG" would've gone up into the Top 10 and did extremely well, a la Ke$ha "YLIMD" or "Blah Blah Blah".
I honestly believe "BFB" has a great chance of being a decent hit. It's different for Britney Spears, it'll be a highlight on radio compared to other songs, among other things. I can tell you now, if they release "I Wanna Go" and not put promotion behind it with performances and exposure, it will pull an "Amy". It's a great, catchy, predictable Summer hit, but, that's also it's downfall with no backup. It's too typical and radio can easily choose something else like it to spin instead, if they get that Britney nor her team care to push it.
