"Get Up," tentatively due on a new Korn EP in May, is a skittering blitzkrieg of heavy electro beats and guitars. "I heard a few of Skrillex's re-mixes and really felt there would be a good chance that he would have the right sensibility to connect us to a new hard sound and direction, but still keeping Korn guitars and our vibe," frontman Jonathan Davis tells SPIN. "We were just thinking of trying something new, to be honest, so I had my manager reach out to the Skrillex camp. When we got into the studio the connection was instant!"
The version on Spin's website, which is also available for free download at Korn.com, is seemingly the official "Get Up". I prefer the Director's Cut, personally. It sounds more complete. Either way, this is an amazing song. Everybody seems to dig it. Korn fans, Skrillex fans, even Ross Robinson and Jeffree Star.
I have no idea when/if they're releasing "Get Up!" to iTunes and Amazon MP3. The upcoming EP is a digital-only release, though, so it would make sense. Dubstep remixes of "Blind" and "Oildale" will be featured along with a few new songs.
