Idk that doesn't intuitively make sense to me... I for one certainly don't ponder whether it's the weekend or not before buying a song. Most kids spend hours on the internet every day anyway, so I'm not sure it would make a difference really.

More people are at home being able to casually browse the internet+catch up on news during what maybe busy work days+school weeks. People will also go to clubs/go out Friday/Sat night, hear songs, and purchase them when they get home.

It's just common sense. People have more time on the weekends.

Weekends are bigger I'm quite sure. Even on YouTube, I realized that weekends days were way bigger in term of views for a video compared to weekdays.

For example, I remember Bad Romance had something like 1M views per day on youtube on weekdays and 2M views during friday/sat/sunday. It's only youtube, but it means there's more people browsing.

It was also kind of proved by E.T. a few weeks ago...it was behind a song for the whole week and finally passed it around the weekend and was able to sell significantly more than the other songs which was a shock to people since E.T. was technically only ahead for 2-3 days.

I thought it was common knowledge that the end of the week for sales is bigger than earlier in the week because school is out, which is when people usually shop the most.

It still doesn't make sense to me. Do we have an article about this? Yes, people shop most on the weekend but can clicking a link and taking 10 seconds to download a song really be considered "shopping"? You can't tell me that that's a huge time commitment that people get around to do more on the weekends. I can see maybe a slight increase but nothing "significant". It just seems like people have been saying it a lot this week all of a sudden...

Yes it makes a difference, besides from observations from people it makes more sense. Paychecks are given out on Thursdays for most employees and Friday government checks for lower class Americans. Weekends people have more time relax so I'm sure they would more free time and thus more time to buy more time to taste what new music has to offer.
