It's not an issue of
enabling her to be lazy, it's matter of whether or not she could ever realistically become that bubbly, outgoing, public figure that she once was. Aside from the fact that her previous relationship with the press was very scarring and because of that she's completely justified in wanting nothing to do with the press, there's also the fact that she has issues with mental health, is most likely medicated, and it is therefore somewhat unlikely that she could be as vibrant and welcoming as she once was. It might not be possible for Britney to open up and build that connection to the public when there are other factors that cannot be helped (or easily done away with) that somehow inhibit her abilities to communicate/relate to others. I don't see medicated Britney as the ideal scenario and I don't give her a free pass to become a hermit or rest on her laurels (and she doesn't rest on her laurels, she really does try), but I'm sensible enough to understand that this isn't an uncomplicated issue or the direct result of Britney just being lazy. In my perfect world I dream of a Britney that is full of life and I would love for her to rebuild that connection with the public, but that isn't who she is right now. As a fan, I love her and support her despite the fact that she's a fraction of the girl she used to be. I remain optimistic that someday she can fully recover, but I'm reconciled to accept the realities that come with the sort of serious emotional trauma she's been through. If she can someday sell albums because she's got this amazing relationship with the public and everyone thinks she's truly back to being "old Britney", then that's great! If she can only sell by virtue of her name, I accept it and I am pleased that she's still able to have a successful career despite it all.
