I can't help but thinking while reading some lessor's accusations of genericity that they were subconciously conditionned to have this opinion from the very moment they heard Luke & Martin were on board.
I don't even know what they would have said if the song was actually generic.
Something generic is something void of any inventivity & trademarks. In other words, the exact opposite of "Hold It Against Me".
